Dartmouth

Dartmouth is a town at the mouth of the River Dart estuary along the coast of south Devon, England. Though the town has always served as a commercial hub due to its location, the expansion of the harbor and construction of the Great Western Railway during the nineteenth century greatly enhanced Dartmouth’s reputation as a busy, industrial port, not to mention a popular seaside tourist destination. Nineteenth century industrialist and civil engineer George Parker Bidder, famous for redesigning the East End docks in London and engineering railways all around the globe, was born and lived here.
