Dehradun is the interim capital city of the state of Uttarakhand in Northern India. It was formerly called Dehra during the reign of the British Raj. It is part of the Himalayan pilgrimage circuit of Chota Char Dham.
The Indian Rebellion or Uprising, also known as the Sepoy Mutiny, began as a mutiny of sepoys of the British East India Company's army on 10 May 1857, in the town of Meerut, and soon escalated into other mutinies and civilian rebellions.
