Derbyshire

Derbyshire is a county in England and contains a large portion of the Peak District National Park. The area was rich in lead, coal, and limestone, which have been mined there since Roman times. The area grew during the Industrial Revolution as it was a source of hydroelectric power. In literature, Fitzwilliam Darcy’s home Pemberly from Pride and Prejudice is located in Derbyshire. George Eliot’s fictional town in Adam Bede is based on the town Wirksworth in Derbyshire.
