Douglas

Douglas is the capital and largest town of the Isle of Man. It is located on the east side of the island at the mouth of the River Douglas. The town grew up rapidly in the eighteenth century due to links with the port of Liverpool, and by the 1870’s the town had become a popular holiday resort. In 1869, “Tynwald,” the island’s parliament, was moved to Douglas from Castletown. Today, Douglas is the Isle of Man’s main hub.
