Dublin

Dublin is the capital city of Ireland. It is located on the country’s east coast, at the mouth of the river Liffey and north of the Wicklow Mountains. It is home to the thirteenth-century Dublin Castle, now a government complex. The city suffered significant damage during the struggle for Irish independence in the early twentieth century, and the city center was rebuilt as a result. Dublin is home to Trinity College, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral, and St. Stephen’s Green. Famous Dublin writers include Samuel Beckett, Elizabet Bowen, Oliver Goldsmith, James Joyce, Sheridan Le Fanu, Frances and Richard Brinsley Sheridan, Bram Stoker, Jonathan Swift, and Oscar Wilde.
