Durward Street

Durward Street (formerly Buck’s Row), is a street in Whitechapel, London. It is known for being the location where the body of Mary Ann Nichols (“Polly”) was found on the morning of 31 August 1888, who is thought to be Jack the Ripper’s the first victim. The name of the street was changed that year to Durward Street due to the unwanted attention that the Ripper murders attracted.
