Gorton is an area of Manchester, which lies southeast of the city center. During the industrial revolution, Gorton was the site of locomotive factories, including Beyer, Peacock and Company. Other notable sites include Gorton Monastery, a nineteenth-century century High Victorian Gothic friary.
