Hotel Continental

The “Continental” was a late nineteenth-century hotel at Regent Street in the West End of London, England. In Dinners and Diners (1899) by Nathaniel Newnham-Davis, the Continental is described as a “hotel with a ruddy face and red pillars to its portico” (123, Google Books), and Newnham-Davis explains that many of the patrons who dined there are theatre patrons or performers.
