Ilion is a village in Herkimer County, New York, in an area that was first settled by Palatine Germans around 1725. The community started to flourish in 1816 when Eliphalet Remington created his first rifle and developed the Remington Arms manufacturing company. In 1843, the village was officially named Ilion.
