Latin Quarter, Paris

The Latin Quarter in Paris is situated on the left bank of the Seine, around the Sorbonne. Its name derives from the Latin language, which was widely spoken during the Medieval times, after the philosopher Pierre Abelard and his student resided there. The Latin Quarter is home to the University and other higher education institutions.
