Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal, located at the mouth of the Tagus river on the country’s west coast. It is one of the oldest cities in Europe, and is home to the twelfth-century Lisbon Cathedral. In the sixteenth century, Lisbon was a commerce hub. It was the site of a series of revolutions in the twentieth century, in 1910, 1926, and 1974, which established a series of republican governments.
