Magdalene College

Magdalene College is a college of the University of Cambridge founded in 1428 as a Benedictine hostel named Buckingham College. It was re-founded in 1542 as the College of St. Mary Magdalene. Magdalene was the last all-male college in Cambridge; women were admitted in 1988. Charles Kingsley joined the College in 1838, and Charles Stewart Parnell, the Irish nationalist leader, studied there between 1865 and 1869.
