Moscow

Moscow is the capital city of Russia, located in the west of the country. It is the site of the Moscow Kremlin, the professional residence of the president, and is home to both chambers of the Russian parliament. Moscow is home to the Red Square, one of the city’s World Heritage Sites. The city lost the status of capital when Peter the Great transferred his government to St. Petersburg in 1712, but was reinstated as capital by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin in 1918 following the Russian Revolution of 1917.
