Oxford Street is a major road in the City of Westminster (London), running from Tottenham Court Road to Marble Arch via Oxford Circus. It changed from a residential to a retail area in the mid-nineteenth century. John Lewis, now a major retail business, opened its first shop at No. 132 in 1864.
