Pennsylvania is home to notable locations such as Valley Forge, which housed the American troops under General George Washington during the American War of Independence, and Gettysburg, which was the northernmost battle of the American Civil War. Pennsylvania has a long history in the steel, logging, and coal industries. Rural portions of Pennsylvania are known for Amish communities.
