Philadelphia

The city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has a history of abolition of slavery, especially among the Quaker community, and significance for US independence. The Pennsylvania state house, later renamed Independence Hall, held the first meeting in the city of Philadelphia. The continental congress also convened in Philedelphia in 1774.  Among the cities in the Pennsylvania colony, Philedelphia was also known for its vast the ship building industry.
