Salisbury Cathedral (D1)
Salibury Cathedral is located in Salibury, England, and it is an Angelican church. It was founded in the 13th century around 1220 and remains as one of England's most historically significant medievel buildings. It houses one of the four surviving Magna Carta and remains a religious space today. In The Remains of the Day, the first night is spent in Salisbury. While walking down the street at 4am, Stevens sees Salisbury Cathedral, but it is actuallly the view of the countryside. He finds adoration in the beautiful architecture, especially the cathedral, but his perspective on the beauty of the city is more geared toward the natural beauty in its gentleness.
"And yet tonight, in the quiet of this room, I find what really remains with me from this first day's travel is not Salisbury Cathedral, nor any other charming sites of this city, but rather that marvelous view encountered this morning of the rolling English countryside" (Ishiguro Day 1).
