note: a sybarite is a person who is self-indulgent in their fondness for sensuous luxury, according to the dictionary.

Scythia, also known as Pontic Scythia, was an empire from 6th to 3rd centuries BC (Wikipedia). Scythians were known for their horse-riding skills and battle skills. So basically in this context, Scythians represent over-aggression and the antithesis to sybarites.
