Simla

Simla (or Shimla) is the capital of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. In 1864, it was declared the summer capital of British India. After independence, the city became the capital of Punjab. The area was largely forested until it was invaded by Bhimsen Thapa of Nepal in 1806 and then under control of the British East India Company.
