St. Paul's Cathedral is a widely known Angelican church with a rich history. It was originally built in 604 CE and is not too far from the River Thames in London. St. Paul's is a vastly imprtant landmark of London and has been the center of several historical events, such as the Great Fire of London and the marriage of Catherine of Aragon.
In the book, Frankenstein, St. Paul's Cathedral is only mentioned once. The cathedral is seen by Clerval and Frankenstein on their trip before Frankenstein's marriage (VOL III, Chapter I). In a general sense, St. Paul's shows the extent of the pair's travels across Europe. On a deeper level, however, the monumental cathedral in London serves almost as a contrast to Ingolstadt, where Victor lives and attends school in the first Volume of the book.
