The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum commissioned by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It is located on the south bank of the river Yamuna in the city of Agra in Uttar Pradesh in northern India. Construction was completed around 1643. The Taj Mahal is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
