Totnes
Totnes is located at the head of the River Dart estuary in Devon, England, about eight miles upriver from Dartmouth. According to medieval historian Geoffrey of Monmouth, Totnes was where Brutus of Troy, the supposed founder of Britain, landed in 1136. Celebrated nineteenth century polymath, Charles Babbage, who originated the idea of a digitally programmable computer, went to grammar school in Totnes.
