University Church in Dublin

It was founded by John Henry Newman in 1855 for the newly-founded Catholic University of Ireland and designed in a Byzantine Revival style. The church’s semi-dome was inspired by the apse of the Basilica of San Clemente al Laterano, Rome. The church was consecrated on Ascension Day 1856 and the Lady Chapel added in 1875.
