Upper Wellington Street
Upper Wellington Street (formerly Charles Street) in the Covent Garden area of London was renamed in 1844. When much of the Street was widened in the 1830s, the former name Charles Street was discarded because it was considered an area of ill-repute, being populated with brothels. It had originally been named for Charles I.
