Verona is a city in northeastern Italy on the banks of the Adige River. Two of William Shakespeare’s plays, Romeo and Juliet and Two Gentlemen of Verona, are set in the city. Many ancient Roman monuments are preserved in Verona including the Verona Arena and the Roman theatre of Verona.
