Wairau Valley

Wairau Valley is located in Marlborough, New Zealand in the valley of the Wairau River. It is the site of the 1843 Wairau Affair in which Arthur Wakefield let European settlers and confronted Māori leadership to take possession of the land. 26 people were killed (4 Māori and 22 settlers).
