Wych Street

Demolished around 1901, Wych Street stretched westward from the church of St. Clement Danes on the Strand and intersected with the southern end of Drury Lane at the Olympic Theatre, just north of the Strand. The street was home to many inns, such as New Inn where Sir Thomas More studied for a time, and the White Lion Tavern where John Jacob Astor and his brother George ran an instrument store. Currently, Australia House located on Aldwych stands in this location.
