Arthur Hugh Clough’s The Bothie of Toper-Na-Fuosich, subtitled “A Long-Vacation Pastoral,” was published in Britain in November 1848. Clough made several revisions to the poem before his death, which formed the basis for posthumous editions, and the title was changed to The Bothie of Tober-na-Vuolich because of a possible double entendre.
