Emmonsails Heath is located in Northamptonshire, England close to the Helpston village. Helpston is where John Clare, the author of the poem, was born in 1793 and spent much of his childhood and his life; he is buried in the churchyard of St. Botolph's. The area of Helpston was a small village consisting mostly of farmland and the lower class. The name Helpston is Anglo-Saxon and means the farmstead settled by Help, which is a personal name in Old English. The village provided a large scope of nature, as indicated with Clare’s poem. Today the area consists of a population of 981 people and possesses around 1,860 acres.

This is a picture of the Church that Clare is buried at.
