Display Explanation: Welcome to "Baths of Olympus," a unique installation designed to immerse visitors in the world of Greco-Roman mythology and its exploration of the multifaceted nature of sexuality. This exhibition is housed in a room made specifically to emmulate that of a Greco-Roman bathhouse, complete with marble walls, flooring, and columns. As you enter the room, the first painting, Frederic Leighton's "Venus Disrobing for the Bath," is positioned in a display near the entrance. Draped over the display are rose garlands with doves and sparrows nestled within. The painting...
For the display of my images, they will stretch along the wall from the entrance to the room to the back wall. The wall will be white, creating a neutral backdrop for the artwork. The wall will feature Matisse's Le Bonheur de Vivre, which will be hung physically. While Laurencin's The Young Girls and Jeune Femmes will be projected onto the wall to ensure equal dimensions for the three pictures, the projected images will be adjusted to match Matisse's painting. The room will be dimly lit, with only a spotlight on Matisse's painting to provide illumination, since...
Display Explanation (HOW WILL YOU SET UP THE PAINTINGS)
Installation Note (WHAT PEOPLE COMING TO YOUR INSTALLATION WOULD READ / EXPLAINING WHY YOU PUT THESE IMAGES TOGETHER / WHAT STORY ABOUT SEXUALITY DO THEY TELL)
If I could have this as an actual installation, there are multiple things I would like to accomplish. Sexuality and sexual freedom are very important aspects of the human experience and I would like to showcase that in how this art is put up and represented. I believe a beautifully intricate room would be the start. I would have the colors be off white on the walls and floor with an intricate lace-like pattern on the floor. I believe it would have beautiful white trim. The lighting is what I would like to experiment with. I would like to try different colors, maybe...
This exhibition takes place in the greenhouse of a botanical garden during the early afternoon on a day full of sunshine. There is a path of decomposed granite that leads you through lush foliage to large glass double doors of a large glass building. Entering the building, you feel a humid warmth from the tropical plants that surround you. There are large birds of paradise that share space with large ferns and monsteras. Pothos hang from the exposed metal rafters that span between brick pillars. Sunlight streams in from above creating sunbeams as it finds the...
In placing my installation in a museum, I have put a lot of thought into how the coloring and positions of the women's bodies would compliment each other when presented in a room. As well as placed in a purposeful way that they could be viewed as belonging together meaning that all three pieces share the same philosophy or so that viewers could see a theme across the installation. To have the colors really pop and to focus on the paintings themselves, I would place them on a blank white wall in simple gold frames with a spotlight placed on each painting while...
This art installation titled Desire in Studio will allow you to look into a replication of Amedeo Modigliani’s studio. Deriving from the Latin studium meaning to study, we imagine what Modigliani’s studio may have looked like while he painted the Red Nude, surrounding himself with some related artworks by the very artists that he studied and was inspired by.
Upon entering the museum, you will eventually find yourself in the basement or basement-like area. The pathway to the exhibit...
Display Explanation: The paintings provided above are created by Edouard Manet, “Luncheon on the Grass” from the year 1862, the second painting is “Olympia” another painting from 1863, and the third painting is titled “Nana” that was created in the year 1877. If I had the chance to display these paintings in a museum, I would like to display these paintings in a way where viewers can catch the significance of each of the paintings but also notice the one painting that is significantly different from the other two. The two women in the first painting and Olympia show a sense of “freedom”...
These works of art all collectively speak the same message. That message is that the natural female body is to be appreciated. These artists, I believe, would want their message to be seen as timeless. Movement also collectively plays a role in each piece as well and I find that this should be visualized. Therefore, I would want to show their art while showing that the message is still important today and the aspect of movement that they used is appreciated.
I would display the art on three walls in a room of museum. The walls would preferably be white to not...
The room in which these three paintings will be displayed will not be overly complex or open. It will be a small room, giving the viewers some encouragement to go in one at a time and immerse themselves in the themes of intimacy in this installation. Warm lighting and off-white walls should further give viewers a sense of comfort walking into this room. The closeness of the space, warm lighting, and comfortable tone of the installation will help viewers better understand the feeling invoked by these images depicting the once taboo, but nevertheless passionate,...
Upon entering the exhibition, viewers would find themselves in a small medium yellow-colored room with a cream ceiling and deep brown wooden floors. The lighting would be slightly dim, with no central lighting fixture. Instead, the viewers would find themselves seeing cone-shaped light fixtures containing single yellow-orange tinted bulbs that change brightness at certain times of day to accentuate one of the three paintings. Each painting would be inside of a mustard yellow frame that would be carved into a simple shape and have simple patterns and...
If my installation was on display in a museum, I would put it in a large, dark room with concrete floors, walls, and ceiling, with no windows. I picture this room as very similar to “The Tanks” at the Tate Modern Museum in London, UK. “The Tanks” are these large, circular, dark rooms that used to be used to store oil when the museum was a power station. Inside the large, dark room, I would separate it into three, slightly smaller, but still large areas, one for each individual painting. The separation between the areas would turn them into three separate box-...
Walking through a plain dark wood archway, you enter into a room with black walls and dark wood flooring. The room is a standard room with four walls that are about standard height and twice as long as they are high. On those walls are curtains that are a deep purple color that shine a beautiful iridescent blue when the lights hit them just right. The room smells faintly of perfume, a floral scent with notes of a pungent alcohol smell underneath.
The main lights are low yellow tinted LEDs; they fill the room with a soft yellow glow. Above those deep...
Display Explanation: The display for these images will be an indoor museum with smooth pearl white walls and the floors in the museum will be white but with blue and light blue accents as you lead up to my first image I chose then as you starting walking to my second image the light blue accent will remain but the other blue will change to light purple. Which will lead to my second image with light blue and purple accents. Then as you finally walk to my last image the colors will change to subtle red roses instead of accents to connect with my last image. The celings will be at least 20...
To display my images, I think I would have them put behind a door. Instead of having them out in the open. Outside of the room the door would be titled “Natural Femininity”. The door would be about halfway open, halfway closed. It would also be green. Inside the room my images would be displayed on platform like structures. They would be black. I think I would have one of my images that stood out the most in the front to capture the viewers attention, so that way they would be more likely to want to view the other two. For the positioning, I would have the one...
I would display the three images of my installation in a museum room with a water theme. All three photos have the same subject matter, that is water. When you go to enter the room there will not be a door or anything. There will be a tiny bridge you have to go over to enter the room. If you look under the bridge, there won't be actual water but there will be colored glass that looks like water. The colored glass is layered so there are different shades of light and dark blue. When you first walk into the room you would notice the three pictures placed in a...
“Whisper of the Woods” is an ethereal art installation that attracts guests to plunge themselves into a world of trees and woods. It is a one-of-a-kind experience that combines both visual and auditory perspectives of being in the middle of an enchanted forest.
As guests enter the installation, they follow a grey cobble path covered in moss and grass, and the air smells of cherry blossoms. Both white and red Cherry blossom trees are gigantic and will overcast visitors as they walk down the cobblestone path. As guests walk down...
As visitors step into the museum room, they are thrown into an atmosphere full of the feeling of sensuality, where every detail contributes to the immersive experience. The air is filled with the sweet fragrance of Jasmine flowers. their sweet, rich, and musky smell mingling with soft ethereal music that surrounds the space. There’s warm spotty light showers the room in a golden glow, which casts the paintings and surrounding natural elements in a soft, sensual radiance.
The first central circular platform stepping in, covered with lush greenery and...
To begin with, in order to achieve the effect I want, the three paintings may not be presented as its original size. Instead, an enlarged copy of these original paintings will be utilized to mimic the size of a real human. That is, all three paintings will be enlarged to a size that’s similar to one of a real human (about 50-75cm wide and 150-175cm long). The reason for such act is simple—I want the audience to be able to see the woman in the paitings as if they are presented as real human, so the size of their body should naturally...
In my Installation, the theme of acknowledging the complexities of women is the prominent theme. Therefore, the images in the installation will allow those viewing it within my museum to understand the theme better. The installation will be set in a 3-walled room, shaped almost like a tent, or a small pyramid. The three images will be placed on each wall, (1 painting per wall), and will be positioned in a way that makes the audience look up at the paintings to see them. The idea of the room being a 3 structure is to only allow space for one person in the room at...
My installation would be set up in a kind of “maze” “-like way. To explain, the exhibit would be a box shape, it would be closed off from the rest of the museum. The walls are black on the outside but on the inside, they would correspond to the paintings. The paintings would be set up in different corners of the box so you can only see one painting at a time. I feel like it tells the story better that way. So, the box would be set up in three jagged sections each an equal size. There would be two doors, one labeled entrance and one exit. It would also be made...
In the museum, my three chosen pictures would be placed side by side. This is because these three images are trying to show the uniqueness of their feminine bodies. Starting from the left and going to the right we will have the first picture Delightful Land, Blue Nude in the middle, and then Reclining Nude Woman on the right. The pictures Delightful Land and Blue Nude will be placed close together and will be surrounded by all different kinds of flowers. This is because, in both of these paintings, the women are...
Upon entering the exhibit room there is no door; the visitor walks through a curtain of green foliage crafted from vines and live plants. It hangs freely, attached at the top of the arched open doorway. The room is dimly lit with off-white, cream-colored walls. There are slightly high ceilings. The walls must be off-white not to remove from the whiteness of the women’s skin. The room is medium to large-sized (about 10m by 10m) and there is a display of hanging flowers in the center. To represent Joseph Felix Barrias' Eve, red anemone flowers, to represent John...
