J.K. Rowling.
(MANCHESTER, ENGLAND)
Joanne Rowling lived in Manchester with her boyfriend and worked at the Chamber of Commerce in 1990 ("Timeline"). She was on a train from Manchester to London King’s Cross in July when she was suddenly hit with a concept that overwhelmed her in terms of writing. There was a four hour delay and during that time she crafted together a boy that was not like any human being, he instead was a wizard (“J.K. Rowling”). Later on when she went to her flat, she could not get the imagery of the boy and his storyline out of her head. It felt as if the adrenalinne rush would never leave her, the world that this character lived in was far too intriguing to ignore. Without wasting time she started jotting down her notes on scraps of paper. She created concrete ideas on who this boy was and how he would be in terms of his mannerisms, thoughts, etc. The same evening that she created this idea she began to write what would be known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first book in the Harry Potter series (“J.K. Rowling Biography”). If she had not been on that train in Manchester, perhaps the idea would have never came to her because within that moment that she wrote the beginning of the first book she then had planned out the rest of the series within a span of five years. (“J.K. Rowling”). I believe that this was the starting point of her career as an author since the idea popped into her head without any effort. I do think that if she were elsewhere and not on that delayed train, then she would have never came up with the idea and then there would be no Harry Potter.
