London
London is the capital od England and the United Kingdom. It is located on the Thames River. The name "London" has also referred to the metopolis surrounding the core city of London, which includes Esses, Surrey, Kent, and others.
London is ome of the world's major global cities and has been for centuries. The first major settlement was created by the Romans in about 47AD, and has been growing ever since. By the 11th century, it was the largest city in England and became the main trading spot and a base for defence during wartime. During the time that "Mask of Anarchy" was written, England was still the world's largest city and growing.
It was mentioned in "Mask of Anarchy" when Shelly was describing the troops coming into England. He said, "O'er fields and towns, from sea to sea, Passed the Pageant swift and free, Tearing up and trampling down, Till they came to London town" (lines 50-53).
