In this image, one can see that the individuals chipping away at this section of the wall are boys. It is important to note that the wall had been fully constructed for well over twenty years, so they have never been able to see their city without the existence of the wall dividing people with different viewpoints. The significance of this image stands most strongly with their ages as it leads people to question what effect did this wall and its destruction have on their upbringing. It also leads people to question how accepting they were of those who disagreed with them from a political sense. Although the boys in the image are not breaking through the wall completely, they really are a part of one of the most impactful turning points in history.
