For many years, Athens was run by tyranny. After wars and disagreements, new government systems were brought into the society. The disagreements did not stop there, with the rise of a new political system came the constant power struggle between those that supported democracy and those that supported oligarchy. Through the eventual implementation of democracy within Athens, the nation was divided into two groups where one supported a democratic system while others opposed. Many areas of Athens, including works from the great philosopher, Plato, displayed the division among the people, while architecture shows the benefits and unity democracy brought to the Athenian society.
