Description:
In this photo it shows two men. One who is which a soldier who looks as if he is in need of help. The other guy looks as if he is giving the soldier money. To me, this is what Wilfred Owen's poem is mainly about. The things that go on in war will most likely affect you for the rest of your life. He stated "In all my dreams before my helpless sight he plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning." He is reffering to the gas attacks but he can see it all the time. The soldier looks as if he is traumatized by the war. He looks depressed and helpless. MOst people don't understand that he seen things that will haunt him for the rest of his life. Owen also said "Of wile, incurable sores on innocent tounges,- my friend, you would not tell with such high zest to children ardent for some desperate glory, the old lie: Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patric Mori" Owen meant that the outside people would only know and believe what the government tell them. He also wants people to know that the old saying is a lie. It is not an honor to die for your country.
