Prince Dolor Entering the Tower

Type: Gallery Image | Not Vetted

This image is from a hardcover edition of The Little Prince from 1964. This image shows the Prince and his caretaker, a female criminal who is sentenced to death, as they arrive at the tower. This image shows their first ascent into the tower together; they are both sentenced to a life of isolation. The text states: “When they reached the foot of the tower, there was a light enough to see a huge chain dangling only halfway. The deaf-mute took his saddle-wallet a sort of ladder, arranged in pieces like a puzzle, fitted it together, and lifted it up to meet the chain.”
