South Kensington is a district in West London in the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Following the Great Exhibition in 1851, the area known as Exhibition Road was purchased by the commissioners of the Exhibition to create a home for institutions dedicated to the arts and science. It is the home to many museums including the Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
