The Tractarianism movement was also know as the "Oxford Movement" and Christinia Rosseti was a member of it. "One of the segments, called the “Puseyites,” were active after 1845 and published works that attacked the liberal invasion of Christianity and what they saw as the weaknesses of the Church". The movement inspired her works because she included a lot of christian elements in her poems, for example, the whole idea of "forbidden fruit" derived from the story of Adam and Eve.
