Description:
The first acts of the French Revolution took place in Versailles, France. This image is meant to represent those first acts, as they are what ignited debate over the definition of human rights. From this, also taking place in Versailles, France, came The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen in 1789, legislatively ending the debate and defining human rights. This image displays the upheaval that was experienced, encouraging the need for a written declaration. This was a big step for human rights, but it was only the beginning of experiences before more legislation and advocation would be required.
