Land and Landscape II

For my landscape photos, I took pictures of the garden next to my house. Image 1 is the "innocent" photo - it is the view of the garden from my front porch. I did not frame or style the photo in any way. Image 2, the "framed" photo, is a close-up image of the garden itself, where you can see the plants rather than just the outside fence. Image 3 contains my argument - I sat down on a bench inside the garden and took a photo of what I could see from that perspective. My "argument" is that this is the view of the garden we are meant to see, since this is where most people would sit to view…

I took these photos at the park near North Campus. The first photo is "innocent" because I simply held up my phone and took the picture without looking at the screen. I didn't play with the angles, lighting, etc. In the second picture, I "frame" the photo by focusing more on the pond and less on the grass. In the third photo, I provide a slightly closer view of the pond. These pictures were taken of my backyard that backs up right to the woods. I took these pictures at the Art Pavilion on campus. The first photo is "innocent," as it's the view I have every morning walking to McGehee Hall. The second picture is "framed" as I centered the Nike statue and the circle of benches that the path leads to. My last photo is my "argument" piece, as the previous photos made me consider what I had been ignoring this entire time. To catch a tract of land “innocently”, I took my partner and our pet to a nearby park. I backed up far enough to where I could capture the yard and the playground in the back. In my second photo, I tried to frame it by focusing more on the landscape. By the time we took the third photo, we could both tell that our cat hated everything about this little adventure. Once, he crawled up on top of the bench and started staring at me, I noticed that he looked like he was in prison (and probably felt like it, too). These photos where taken while I was sitting on my porch waiting for the mail. I recently filled my hummingbird feeders and I managed to capture some photos of the little angels. My first photo feels innocent to me because I was quick and did not focus on composition or grace. The birds moved fast so I wanted to catch as much of them as possible. Week 3 Photography Assignment

The first picture shows what you might see as you glance over while trying to avoid being hit by a car. The second picture shows an oak that was hidden from view at just a glance. The framing shows the majesty that a small acorn can achieve during its lifetime. The third picture, the argument, portrays what close scrutiny reveals. The tree is rotten, its leaves fell a long time ago, and it is waiting for the next big storm to knock it over. It is dead, it just has no realization of its status. Also, arguing the status of a tree with that same tree is pointless. 

I took these photos early in the morning at our backyard. The first photo is "innocent" because my first glance on it from a far reflects a clear sky, misty trees, and a small pond next to it. While the second photo shows the close angle of view, framing a house subtly nestled among tall trees, the surface of the pond reflecting its appearance creating a  picturesque and tranquil view. These are photos taken of a small garden outside my parents' house. Several of my mom's friends came and planted this tree for my mom in memory of my older sister Brittany, and my other sisters and I helped our parents plant the flowers around the base of the tree. I knew that I wanted to include this garden in my photos, and when I happened to go outside to take them, this butterfly was in the garden (an Eastern tiger swallowtail).
