This is a picture of the Flanders Field American Cemetery. it shows the many soldiers that have lost their lives in World War I. This shows that there is heartbreak and sadness when it comes to war. This picture also demonstrates the historical context of the memorial and its importance. During, World War I a soldier talks about in “In Flanders Fields” the noises of the bombs that the soldiers hear while in battle and the death of members while in battle. This is similar in “Dulce Et Decorum Est” because it shows you the reality of the harshness of war. It also gives you a point of how the government also doesn't tell you the horrific, mental, and physical challenges when it comes to going into war. For example, “In the poem, you can see that people are getting hurt by the war physically. In lines from “Dulce Et Decorum” it says “Behind the wagon that we flung him in”, this could possibly mean that someone got hurt and the word “wagon” is referring to an “ambulance” to help the person that is seriously hurt.”
