COVE

The families of World War I soldiers are shown protesting outside the White House in opposition to the war. With the rise of patriotism, propaganda, and recruitment posters, opposition to war emerged. Anti-war groups led protests to promote peace and voice their opinions on the harshness of war and how it heavily impacted the soldiers and their families back home. Every nation in combat during the great war had anti-war movements. In the US specifically, women made the biggest impact on the movement in January 1915 when the Women's Peace Party set up a peace conference in the Netherlands which then gained the attention of Woodrow Wilson and increased the effectiveness of protests forever.
