Lady Windermere's Fan

Lady Windermere's Fan is a four-act play written by Oscar Wilde that was first performed in 1892 and then published a year later. The play is a "comedy of manners", which means that it has satirical aspects that reflect the manners of society. The play is about Lady Windermere and her jealousy over her husband's interest in Mrs. Erlyanne, who we eventually find out is Lady Windermere's long-lost mother. Wilde used his works in order to highlight and reflect what was happening in Victorian society, usually in satirical ways. After numerous flops with writing play in the past, Wilde tried his hand at comedy. The result was Lady Windermere's Fan, and after it was performed it got raving reviews.
