Ujiji is a town on the shore of Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania. It was the site of the meeting between Henry Morton Stanley and David Livingstone in 1871, and a memorial was constructed in the town to commemorate the event. The London Missionary Society established a missionary post in Ujiji in 1878.
