Police Corruption Trials of the 1970s

During the Police Corruption Trials of the 1970s it was discovered that many of the police force were actually recieving backhanders from criminals. Gangsters of this time would often be involved with the new emergence of drugs. drugs were becoming the new things throughout clubs of the time. Meaning, Gangsters were high users of different drugs such as cocaine and cannibas, which were not deemed bad or dangerous at the time. This can connect to Bleak House as the medicinal use of opium was widely used without the knowing just how addictive Opium is. There were many drugs during the time that should have maybe been illegal that people were not aware of. Not only did they lead people into addictions they also led criminals into a bad relationship with drugs as well.
