British Army Advancing on the Western Front (March 1917) by Ernest Brooks is licensed under Public Domain.

This page is produced by Encyclopedia Britannica and provides a brief overview of what happened at the Western Front during World War I. The purpose of this website is to explain the battles, locations, etc., about what happened here. Because of the fact that this website is educational, the intended audience is students and history buffs, but with the page being clear and easy to follow, I feel like the general public can also make use of this.

I chose this article because I wanted to get a better idea of what Isaac Rosenberg was writing about and experiencing through Break of Day in the Trenches. This page is caught my eye specifically because of how it explains the harsh reality of the war on the Western Front. This page gives a more detailed look at the Western Front and describes how it stretched across Belgium and France and how both sides of the war decided to dig deep trench systems that led to a long stalemate, basically making it to where neigher side was able to advance much in the war, even with the huge battles they were having. The page talks about the harsh living conditions that the soldiers had to deal with, concerning the mud, shelling, and all the casualties they had. It mentioned some of the battles that were fought, like the Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Verdun. By mentioning and explaining these battles, the page was able to show just how costly and difficult the fighting was during this world war, and with the Western Front being the main location of the war, you can only imagine just how gruesome it actually was.

I would rate this page a solid 4 out of 5 because I thought it was very clear and easy to understand. I felt like it was a solid source and effective for the purpose it's meant for. I really enjoyed it and felt like I learnt a lot.
