Baker Street is the street the Lorimer sisters live on in their apartment in Romance of a Shop, and the station specifically is an underground rail station like a subway which helps citizens travel across London in little time. The street and station are named after William Baker, who laid out the street in the 18th century.Baker Street station is the oldest underground tube station in the world, being created in 1863. It cost 1.3 million pounds to build and was built to resolve the problem of a growing London, which had grown too large to comfortably navigate on foot.
