Barbados is an island country located in the southeastern Caribbean Sea. It measures about 20 miles from northwest to southeast and about 15 miles from east to west. In the late 1700s, Barbados was often a place that slave ships stopped in to so the land could recieve slaves. In "The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano," Equino mentions Barbados when he says, "At last we came in sight of the island of Barbadoes, at which the whites on board gave a great shout, and made many signs of joy to us."
