Description:
Beetlejuice is a great example of modern day representation of the Victorian Gothic. Beetlejuice was directed by Tim Burton and released in 1988. Tim Burton is known for his style of film, which often incorporates dark, gothic themes and obscurity. Beetlejuice himself is a monstrouous figure. He is a supernatural character who exists in both the afterlife and present life. This movie plays with life and death, ghosts, and mystery. The setting of the film follows the gothic aesthetics. The house where Beetlejuice resides is a typical gothic haunted house. It is large and labrythine as well as isolated from the other houses in the town. There is also evidence of gothic romance between Beetlejuice and Lydia. The movie is eerie and haunted and follows many of the typical gothic themes and tropes.
