Bengal

Bengal is a region located on the Bay of Bengal in the Ganges-Brahmaputra delta. The region has been controlled by the Bengali Pala Empire, the Sena dynasty, and the Mughal Empire. It was the home of the Bengal Renaissance in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Following Indian independence in 1947, the region was partitioned on religious lines, and it is now divided between Bangladesh and India.
